Endodontics
Endodontics is a science that studies the anatomy, pathology and methods of treating tooth root canals. The purpose of the study is to search for new methods and improve the methods already studied that contribute to the eradication of bacteria in the root canal system.
The goals of endodontic treatment
The main tasks of endodontic treatment:
- Removing infected pulp and dentin exposed to infectious areas.
- The use of antiseptic drugs and tools for high-quality preparation of root canals.
- Filling of the tooth canal.
Endodontic treatment can be in the form of primary or secondary dental care. The initial treatment of the patient involves chemomechanical cleaning followed by dental filling. At the end of these stages, the restoration of the tooth crown is carried out using a special material or crown depending on the indications.
Secondary treatment involves undertaking the steps necessary to correct the mistakes made by the dentist during the initial treatment of the patient. For this, previously used fillers are removed and thorough cleaning of the dental canal is performed. Then, a filling is placed again and the activities necessary to complete the course are carried out. All actions of the dentist are aimed at eliminating inflammation and permanent toothache that characterizes acute pulpitis or its chronic form. Also, the specialist’s task is to preserve the tooth itself. Assisting of secondary dental care is not only characterized by increased complexity, but it is not always able to guarantee the durability of the achieved result, which is typical in cases where chronic pulpitis was previously diagnosed. Therefore, constant monitoring by a dentist is necessary for a timely reaction and stopping the spread of infection.

Stages of treatment
Endodontic treatment consists of several stages. The process is very demanding on the qualification of the doctor and the patient’s compliance with all the requirements.
At the diagnostic stage, the doctor examines the tooth and assesses its viability. Examination of marginal periodontium is also performed and a picture is taken (CT may be prescribed). Diagnosis is necessary in order to qualitatively treat periodontitis, pulpitis and other diseases.
At the second stage, the tooth structure is evaluated and a forecast is made regarding the achievement of the result when using one or another technique. If there is a crown or a post construction on the damaged tooth, they are removed.
Endodontic treatment is performed under an operating microscope. After applying anesthesia, the cavity is prepared, access to the canal is opened. The doctor performs depulpation, mechanically and medically processes the canal and fills it.
The next step is the restoration of the tooth crown.
To understand how successful the treatment was, the patient must undergo tooth computed tomography after six months. This is entering the observation phase. Then the tooth is checked after 1, 2 and 4 years.
With the intensification of alikal pathology, measures of apical surgery are prescribed. The results of the operation should be checked periodically.
Ending endodontic treatment is not recommended in one session. In many cases, the process takes several visits, and sometimes it takes three or more visits to the dentist.
The completion of the treatment course is marked by the restoration of the anatomy and functions of the tooth. To achieve the result, filling mixtures and orthopedic constructions are used.
Endodontic treatment in the “Certus” clinic
Dentistry “Certus” conducts endodontic treatment in Kiev with the help of modern medical equipment. Diagnosis of the teeth condition, diagnosis and their treatment is facilitated by the use of the latest settings. Tooth canal treatment involves the use of:
- manual mechanical endodontic instruments,
- X-smart equipment,
- rotation systems
- other medical structures.
Dental canal is filled using vertical technology of hot gutta-percha. The price when using this or that equipment, tool and devices varies, but slightly. All actions aimed at both the treatment of pulpitis and the treatment of periodontitis are accompanied by compulsory x-ray control.
The modern equipment available at the clinic, the use of effective treatment methods and ultramodern materials allows dentists to solve the most complex problems when performing endodontic operations successfully.
